Sonata in G

( Johann Christoph Pepusch )

This is an arrangement of the Sonata in G by Johann Christian Pepusch (1667 - 1752), in which the harpsichord accompaniment has been transposed to guitar. The Sonata has four movements: Adagio, Allegro, Adagio and Allegro. The music is of medium difficulty, although the swift passages require practice.

Pepusch was born in Germany, but spent the major part of his life in England. He was a contemporary and even colleague (they worked for the same employer for some time) of Haendel.

Pepusch’s best known work is the music for The Beggar’s Opera, in those days a well-known satiric comical opera. Additionally he wrote stage music, church music and a number of chamber music works.
